Unfortunately it’s not all about jet setting life.
But saying that, I’m pretty lucky that living in Manchester opens itself up to being a great city immersed in culture. With that cue a music post.
Whilst on a trip to Mallorca last year – Jamie XX tickets for his In Colour tour were going on sale in the UK. Being a huge fan of his, we wanted to make sure that we snapped them up. So with the luck of the Irish (3G) we had them.
Confirmed: 16th October, Albert Hall – Jamie XX
Albert Hall as a Manchester venue is pretty special. Seeing the likes of The War On Drugs, The Cinematic Orchestra and many others at this venue shows how different genres of music can fill this space. Set over two floors, I was excited to see what Jamie’s DJ set would bring.
Although the tour was ‘In Colour’ of what I expected would be a set dedicated to the newly released album at the time, it wasn’t. He covered his old catalogue as well as remixes he’d been famous for putting his name on. The crowd were engaged from the 1st track. I spent the majority of the night dancing non-stop!
Everything from electro beats, to disco and club classics. Amazing.
Some people see DJ’s as not going to watch a real gig, I’d say that wasn’t true in this case. Colour display just topped it off. Cheers Jamie, you did good.
